E/Mo as a Fire Build [Help Please!]
Hey guys,
Nice to meet you all! Okay, well, i am a newbie at Guild Wars and at this forum. I started playing a few days ago and i really need some help; so if you guys could, i would appreciate your opinions and helpful comments.
Anyway, i am an E/Mo at Level 6 at the moment and i haven't used any of my skill points yet. Why?? Cause i don't wanna mess up my characters build. I know thats stupid but it seems every game that i play, i mess the skills up and then i've made a whimpy character, haha, so that's why i need ur guys' help.
If you could, could you please post/recommend me a good E/Mo build for fire? Cause i wanna have a fire build. Sorry i am not all good with the Guild War terms and all but i am learning slowly. Give me a week, hehe. Thanks so much and hope to hear from you all soon!

Like Joncoish said, no changes you make to your character's build are permanent. Any skills you have can be taken in and out of the skillbar at any time in an outpost, and any attribute point distribution you have can be changed in an outpost. At level six, you are probably either in Post-searing Ascalon area, or at Shing Jea Monastery (depending on whether you have the original Guild Wars or Guild Wars Factions). So, if you have not bought any skills yet, then you probably have some very basic skills such as flare and orison of healing. You're going to want to equip fire skills, and mostly level up your fire magic, and maybe some healing skills with healing prayers leveled up, but not as much. Although fire nukers usually grow out of Flare later on in the game, Flare is at this point your best friend. Since you probably don't have too many skill points yet, maybe 10, (you can earn an unlimited amount of these), you want to carefully look at fire skills the skills trainer has to offer (I don't remember what he'd have) and buy the one's that appeal to you. If you have the original Guild Wars, you can do quests to get skills, which you may want to do to save money.

Last time I checked, there was no skill called Meteor Swarm. I assume you mean Meteor Shower, which actually is a very good skill. It's a Prophecies only skill, however, so Ayumi may not be able to get it, depending on whether factions or prophecies is what she has. Joncoish, please don't don't go around confusing new players

Oh wow, thank you both, joncoish and Shred Dread, for your help! I'm so glad that Guild Wars lets you make changes to a characters build, that's awesome. I'll go see what i can come up with and i'll follow ur guys advice. And yes, i am playing the original Guild Wars.
Oh yes, one more question. I'm at the beginning part of the game, in Ascalon City, where i have to go to talk to Sir Tidus and then he's like, "once we leave you can never come back.." Something like that...so i'm confused. When/what level should i leave...where are we going to go...and should i complete more quests to gain skills and all that?? It seems like i got all the Elementalist skills in the 3 cities i've been to and the 2 important Elementalist people, in Foble's Fair, don't have any other skills for me to learn...does that mean i can go with Sir Tidus? I'm sooo sorry for asking all these newbie questions and if they don't quite make sense, i know they can be so annoying. ^_^;; Please bear with me, thank you for your help so far!
Also, any other E/MO builds are welcomed as well, but i'm concentrating on a fire build. *Though, i'll try and do your build first, joncoish!!*

Basically you stay in Pre-Searing until you are comfortable with your play style. Get used to everything, how it all works, how you change your build etc. You can leave P-S at level 3 if you wanted to. I left around level 9.
Make sure to explore everywhere you can, look for all possible quests you can find. Then when you are ready, happy you know what you are doing, talk to Tydius and head on into the real battle
As for build, I use primarily Ele skills. I only use a 2nd Prof skill if I REALY need it (that and I haven't done much playing on others yet).
I would say use the following :
Flare, Fireball, immolate, firestorm (since you have no other big one yet), Meteor when you get it, change firestorm to meteor shower when you can, aura of restoration (for a bit of healing), fire attunement for energy.
This is mostly the standard fire spells that are used. You can always learn some earth/air/water as well. I just found fire to be easy to use and most people want fire nukers. Air is nice because you deal armour penetrating attacks against a single target.
So really just play around with the different skills and see what you enjoy the most. Just remember, don't mix skills too much. Rather try stick to one element, ie Fire skills only / air skills only.

i'd just like to point out, that while any E/? build is an equealy effective pyromancer, the E/Mo build is better suited to the group to run as a storage monk. more energy means you can throw more heal spells. nukers are a dime a dozzen, you generally end up with 2-3 in random groups; but healers are hard to come by. i'd say get the fire skills you want, and a ton of healing spells, then run as a pryomancer when your out with henchies, but switch to being a storage monk when you are joining player groups.

Good idea Wildmouse, just wondering where you are getting your groups? I am very rarely in a group that uses a 2nd ele. Though the e/mo is a good one to run in the hard missions.

"DITTO"!!!....WildMouse! I definately agree. But my character goes the other way. ((I'm a "MO/E" )) The only thing I'll add is that when you spend your points...save em and buy "Eleite" skills that you can't get from the reg Skill's Merch! Also try to play your character's evenly...this will also make you stronger & get use to protecting & healing along with your Elementlist...
"Good Luck"...and WELCOME to the Game!
PS. I would ...get both game's ASAP! (( as it really does make a big difference!! ..It's PRICY but well WORTH IT!!! ))

usually just in pugs.. 2 el's is often common, but i've gotten into pugs that had 3+... usually when i have my el and there's two other's, i'll just run her with my assassin build (which i actually prefer to do with her).... we just had a pug group for FoW last night that had 3, 1 water, 1 pyro, and 1 air.
course i've also done missions with assassin only pugs, or other combo's with no caster's at all. sometimes you just have to take whoever is in town.

Stock E/Mo fire mage
1.flare
2.fireball
3.inferno
4.pheonix/heal party (depending on mission
5.lavafont/firestorm (depending on what the situation calls for, lava font typicaly better)
6.Heal other/mending (depenind on mission)
7.Healing breeze
8.Ressurect
skills
12 fire
9 heals
rest energy storage.
This is my stock fire monk, basicly its a back up healer damage dealer. I ussualy just sit back and spam fire ball and flare I AF the main healer at all times. When they get attacked I use lavafont to repel enemies and take pressure off the monks and inferno/pheonix to kill things that stay in range.
Use breeze as your primary heal, as you can spam this all day with 80 energy and use healother when needed. I ussualy bring mending instead of H/O on mission as a +3 regen cast on the main warrior type on the party pretty much means they'll be ok the whole time and are free to tank. Plus this takes alot off the main healer and you're still very functional with +3energy regen due to high energy storage.
On the final much harder missions I often scrap phenoix for heal party.
This charachter is really nice b/c you can truly do damage and heal well. I have 83 energy with this build and rarly run out. I can give +7 regen and +122hp heal. or +10 regen with mending and breeze. Healparty is 55hp not the best but still useful.
I also deal around 100+ damage to anything i attack with fireball/inferno which are your primary kills. Pheonix is a great spell for when you're running low of mana as 15mp gets you about 250+ damage to multiple targets. Pup the healer kill the softtargets and cast breeze on the main tank, great grouping char.

Back to Ayumi's topic:
In Guild Wars Prohpecies, which is what you have, it'll be a while before you have a lot of fire skills to choose from. If I remember correctly, the earliest fire skills you get are Flare, Firestorm, Lava Font, and Phoenix. Use all of those, until you get better ones to replace them. Also, use Aura of Restoration, until you have a better skill to replace it. If you're still in Pre-searing, then you won't have all these skills yet. There's nothing wrong with leaving pre at level six, although it's probably a good idea to do the quests, or at least the ones that give you skills.
Later on in the game, when there are more skills available to you, check on the other threads on the elementalist forum. CHances are you can find a good pyromancer build. (I personally prefer Echo Nuking, if I'm using me E/Me)

Yeah u start off with flare and firestorm, at the begining its beeter to put your points into energy storage instead of fire, as ur primary spells only costs 5 mana and a point or 2 in fire will only get you about 5-7 more damage where as a point or 2 in energy storage will get you a whole nother spell.

I have a Mo/E, so when I go pure ele, here is my build:
Flare
Fireball
Meteor Shower (purchased in Ascolon Settlement - North of Lion's Arch in Northern Province of Kryta)
Glyph of Energy (e) (elite captured in Mineral Springs - North of Granite Citidel)
Incendiary Bonds
Phoenix
Watchful Spirit
Rebirth
Now, naturally, you will sub in Aura of Restoration for Watchful Spirit.
And as for Sir Tidus, if you wanted to get the explorer title, from what I've heard, you must explore everywhere in Pre-seering. I don't know if that is true or not, but if it is, and you want that title for 100% map explorer title, then you must explore everywhere.
You don't need to wait around before you get high level to get to post-war, but since you are new, you should take your time and get used to your elementalist before you get to post-war (talking to Sir Tidus and leaving the peaceful Ascolon City).
Hope this helps.
Good luck and enjoy.

Ok i have had the game since about august and i have gone through all of the professions and so far my favourite is my E/Mo he is really powerful and can self heal which is always a bonus and if you cant find a group you can go full monk which gets ppls attention!
nyway my skills are something along these lines:
Flare Fire magic:11
Meteor shower Energy Storage:9
lava font (or similar) Healing prayers:9
Firestorm
Conjure flame
Immolate
healing breeze (or similar)
Any res. spell or signet
I find this really works for me nyway im lvl 17 at the moment with 8attrib. points to spare but that happens. I use meteor shower AND firestorm cause meteor shower takes 5secs. and sometimes you dont have that amount v time to nuke a group v enemies. Immolate is great cause v the burning factor and its a 2second spell with 5second recharge so i just keep going flare immolate flare immolate till they die.
Dont just put whatever points you have left into nergy storage ok you may not use ny v the spells but at 9 i have 72 base energy and never run out v energy sometimes i may run a little low towards the end v big battles but thats to be expected nyway hope that helps but i suppose you dont need it nymore cause you have had the game longer than me.
